Allotment Shed and Pergola built from recycled materials

Allotment shed with pergola and barbeque fire-pit built from recycled materials

After about two years on the waiting list, I was lucky enough to be allocated an allotment.  It was well worth the wait!

The other allotment-holders are friendly and helpful, sharing tips, spare seeds, plants and materials.  My new plot was rather overgrown so there was a lot of work to do at first clearing it.

What I really missed in the first winter was a shed. A shed to shelter in from the worst of the weather and store larger items.

Thinking ahead to the next summer, I dreamed of sitting in the shade under a pergola at the front of the shed.  Maybe a BBQ fire-pit too, so I could entertain a few friends and family?

I built my shed and pergola entirely from recycled and found materials.  From skips (with permission to take, of course), from donations of old furniture, fixtures and fittings from friends and family and items offered on “Toon Freegle” and “Toon Freecycle“.

From time to time I will post information about how I built my shed and the materials I used – I will add a link here to the posts (nothing to see yet).

In the meantime, here is the view from my lovely shed!
